Picture Courtesy:Chintamani Rockers.This is how Chintamani looked from the top of Kannampalli Hills at the strike of 00:01 on the 1st Jan 2009.Chintamaniacs celebrated the new year like there was no tomorrow.Hundreds of youth on their bikes wandered all around the town.Although there were enough stars to light up the sky lots of fire crackers illuminated the night sky.More than the celebration of the new year this picture looks like a celebration of Chintamani itself.

I wonder Chintamaniac has heard of Captain Munn, who is supposed to have done great service to Kolar District.
I am curious to know, who is Captain Munn?

Captain Munn is a British soldier who took interest in arid Kolar District and organised digging of well and lakes. Many people named their kids after him, he was called 'Munnu' by Kannadigas.
